José Pereira was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He blanked the Oakland Athletics 4-0 on 3 hits and had 2 walks and 10 strikeouts.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," the Oakland skipper told reporters after the shutout loss to the Minnesota Twins.
"He just had a real deceiving fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
So far this season Pereira has picked up 2 saves in 34 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 14-5 won-lost mark with a 2.93 ERA and fanned 135 batters in 169 innings.
